I realize that there was probably far more interest in last night’s gubernatorial debate in California, but another widely anticipated debate is on tap for this afternoon.
The second of six “officially” sanctioned Democratic National Committee presidential debates will be today in New York City. The focus of the debate, sponsored by CNBC and the Wall Street Journal, will be on the economy, though other issues will undoubtedly be raised.
The problem is with the schedule. While the previous debates have been in prime time (at least on the East coast), today’s event begins at 4 pm Eastern. Aren’t most folks at work until at least 5? (MSNBC will re-broadcast the debate tonight at 9.)
Most of the attention, understandably, will be on Wesley Clark. It will be his first appearance in a presidential debate, and considering his standing in the polls, I suspect some of his rivals for the nomination will be going after him.
I’ll let you know how it goes.
