Drudge and Obama’s Somali garb

Just how silly is the Silly Season? Consider the story that has quickly come to dominate the political world’s attention this morning and this afternoon. Drudge is running this report, alongside a photo of Barack Obama visiting Africa and wearing Somali garb. The headline reads, “Clinton staffers circulate ‘dressed’ Obama.”

With a week to go until the Texas and Ohio primaries, stressed Clinton staffers circulated a photo over the weekend of a “dressed” Barack Obama.

The photo, taken in 2006, shows the Democrat frontrunner fitted as a Somali Elder, during his visit to Wajir, a rural area in northeastern Kenya.

The senator was on a five-country tour of Africa.

“Wouldn’t we be seeing this on the cover of every magazine if it were HRC?” questioned one campaign staffer, in an email obtained by the DRUDGE REPORT.

It’s hard to know where to start with a story like this, though I couldn’t help but notice that Drudge showed other pictures with his report of prominent political figures — including George W. Bush and Hillary Clinton — also wearing foreign attire while visiting overseas. (When Drudge feels compelled to add important context, you know the story is weak.)

Given that, the more politically salient question seems to be whether the Clinton campaign would really be so desperate as to send this picture around to reporters. Remember, the right loves what are called “bank-shots” — attacking Obama and trying to pin it on Clinton, and in the process hitting both. This happened, of course, back with the original madrassa story, which the Clinton campaign apparently had nothing to do with.

Drudge claims that Clinton’s team is circulating the pic, and the Obama campaign issued a statement working under the assumption that the Clinton campaign is responsible: “On the very day that Senator Clinton is giving a speech about restoring respect for America in the world, her campaign has engaged in the most shameful, offensive fear-mongering we’ve seen from either party in this election. This is part of a disturbing pattern that led her county chairs to resign in Iowa, her campaign chairman to resign in New Hampshire, and it’s exactly the kind of divisive politics that turns away Americans of all parties and diminishes respect for America in the world.”

I was skeptical about whether this was the right move — it’s never wise to just accept Drudge reports at face value — but the official Clinton response was less than helpful.

After about an hour of reporters seeking comment, this is what the Clinton campaign sent out:

“Enough.

“If Barack Obama’s campaign wants to suggest that a photo of him wearing traditional Somali clothing is divisive, they should be ashamed. Hillary Clinton has worn the traditional clothing of countries she has visited and had those photos published widely.
“This is nothing more than an obvious and transparent attempt to distract from the serious issues confronting our country today and to attempt to create the very divisions they claim to decry.

“We will not be distracted.”

There is, alas, not so much as a hint of a denial here. Asked if the Clinton campaign has been circulating the picture, the Clinton campaign has effectively responded, “There’s nothing wrong with the picture.” Of course, that’s not exactly an answer — though, in a way, perhaps it is.

I’m particularly struck by, “We will not be distracted.” In general, that’s a good motto, but in this case, isn’t the opposite true? If the Clinton campaign has found it necessary to disseminate a photo of Obama in traditional Somali clothing, isn’t that, by definition, an example of the Clinton campaign being entirely distracted? After all, pushing the pic doesn’t exactly come across as “on message.” (Look! It’s Obama! In a funny outfit!) On the contrary, it comes across as a reckless and desperate move.

As a rule, these cheap shots tend to backfire. My hunch is that today’s gambit will be no different.

Nice turban.

  • Carpetbagger– I’m with you on this one. A non-denial like this is very clear, as are its implications.

Sadly, I think this next week is going to be nasty. Luckily, it will probably all be over as of next Tuesday– Unless someone comes up with pictures of Obama with a dead girl or a live boy, he is going to take either Texas or Ohio, and with it, the nomination.

But it is sad to see these Rovian tactics coming into play. Hillary may have lost the nomination, but she, and Bill, stand to lose far more by playing on this handbook.

  • I initially jumped to conclusions, especially after Maggie William’s non-denial came out. But looking at the Drudge piece, it seems more likely that Clinton staffer’s were circulating it internally, and then it leaked to Drudge. But nothing is clear at the moment, so I guess we’re just going to have to wait and see..

  • I think the intended implication in full would be, “Look! There’s Obama in funny clothes that makes him look like a terrorist! Run away! Run away!!”

Unbelievably lame. Thanks a lot for another great moment, Mr. Penn.

  • Speaking as a resident of rural Ohio, this made me sick. This is targeted smack at my idiot neighbors, and it will work.

  • I hate to jump to conclusions but if Clinton’s campaign is circulating this photo, shame on them. Could they really be so desperate and undignified? I thought Hillary would be above this kind of nonsense. But that non-denial says a lot more than it intended to.

  • This reminds me of accounts by witnesses at the French General HQ in June 1940, as the Generalissimos and the Field Marshals came to realize just how badly they had been outfought. Screaming and yelling, finger-pointing, gnashing of teeth…

One hopes the Clintonistas won’t “go Petain” on us and prove themselves the Quislings they are.

This is a perfect example of the final stage of 4GW, in which the Authority has been outfought and in which the insurgents are completely inside the Authority’s OODA loop, which then begins to go “non-linear” and fall into moral collapse.

I guess the news that Latinos in Texas are smart enough to see through her bullshit – Obama now leads her by double digits among Texas Latinos – is the last stage.

Watching scummy slime like McAuliffe and Penn and Ickes and Snakehead devolve into the screaming Orcs they are is just wonderful.

The Clintons are now proving to everyone what has always been the truth about these two self-involved egomaniacs: they’ve always been their own worst enemies. Now they’re going to take a week and destroy whatever reputation they had left.

    Paaaaaaaaaathetic!

  • Wow. Bush goes to Africa, and everyone wants to talk about Obama. Obama goes to Africa, and is deemed a Somali Elder (which, if you’ve ever been to Somalia, is a pretty big deal—it’s the equivalent of the Somalis themselves deciding that you’re their “decider,” instead of some half-witted crank addict named after a a British king, a Tennessee horse, and a very small tree deciding for himself that he’s “our deciderer”).

Now, on the the heart of the matter. As I understand it, Drudge played the Hillary card before Obama—so why is the Clinton camp throwing all their “we will not be distracted” stuff at the Obama campaign?

Well—other than the obvious reason, being to mask the sound of Fortress Clinton going into “death-throes” mode….

  • “We will not be distracted.” — Clinton campaign

Nearly everything they’re doing right now is a distraction! Celestial choirs. Shame on you. Funny photos. The f*cking future of American democracy is on the line, and this is what we hear from the “substantive” candidate? Not.

  • I think CB is spot on here. We need to RELAX a little and not jump to conclusions. There will be plenty of time to scream at Hillary if it turns out her campaign was using dirty tactics. But it could all be a mistake. So take a deep breath and relax.

  • This also smacks of some type of “Ferner” angle.
More of that… “He’s not one of us” stuff.
    African… Muslim!!!!

    Repeat teh lie.

And as always, let us wax Seinfeld…
“Not that there’s anything wrong with being a Muslim. He just doesn’t happen to be one.”

  • So, now the Clinton campaign is collaborating with Drudge to smear Obama. This is just another clear illustration of why it’s important to get these people — the Clintons — off the national stage. They may espouse progressive policies (occasionally), but they have internalized and embraced the very worst kind of Republican politics.

There are some who would embrace Karl Rove if only he were on our side. Others like myself, however, find this type of politics to be disgusting and unacceptable even in the service of policies I support.

Does anyone really want four (or eight) years of this crap?

  • “If anyone was offended by anything that was said, whether it was meant or not, whether it was misinterpreted or not, then obviously I regret that,”

The Standard Non-Apology of the Professional Abuser.

  • WELL, I COULD ISSUE A FOUR POINT PLAN OR PRINT UP A STUPID PAMPHLET ON THE ECONOMY, AND THE SKIES WOULD OPEN UP AND JUST MAKE EVERYTHING DUCKY, BUT I’M NOT GOING TO DO IT, BECAUSE THAT’S NOT HOW YOU SOLVE PROBLEMS. LET’S GET REAL!!!!!!

  • Off topic but this is too funny to pass up. Cindy McCain’s favorite recipes are posted on the McCain campaign official website. Ahi Tuna with Napa Cabbage Slaw and Crab Scampi and Whole Wheat Spaghetti are among her favorites.

Ahi tuna and lump crabmeat? Is she frigging joking or what? Like the average American family shelling out more than thre bucks a gallon for gas can afford fresh ahi tuna which goes for about $20 per lb. Lump crabmeat isn’t that much cheaper.

Just more evidence that the McCains are wealthy elitists way out of touch with average Americans.

  • I’m with Beep52 on this one. Has anyone else noticed that the Clinton campaign seems obsessed with the word “ashamed?”

  • “If anyone was offended by anything that was said, whether it was meant or not, whether it was misinterpreted or not, then obviously I regret that,”

In other words, “If it made me lose votes, then I regret it.”

What George Colombo said. I’m so fucking tired of this shit.

  • To those tossing this aside as typical Drudge are missing the point.

The reason this is getting play is not because Drudge posted it and fingered Clinton, it’s because when confronted with it, the Clinton camp—through multiple spokespeople and representatives as high up as campaign manager—are NOT DENYING IT. And instead feigning a “What’s wrong with it?” attitude and pushing back on Obama.

If it’s good(bad) enough for Josh Marshall and Steve B…

  • It seems to me that the Obama people are believing Drudge, unless they have some other source of information about that photo. Obama, please don’t piggyback on the rightwing attack machines’ attacks. They are a much bigger enemy than Clinton.

  • Oh, you might want to correct the spelling on the headline for this one, CB. Somali, not Samali.

Don’t mean to nitpick, it just kinda sticks out on a headline.

  • “Wouldn’t we be seeing this on the cover of every magazine if it were HRC?” questioned one campaign staffer, in an email obtained by the DRUDGE REPORT.

    No.

This latest installment of simple answers to stupid questions has been brought to you by those who have a clue and aren’t afraid to let on about the fact that they do.

  • The photo was originally posted at Hans-Geeska Afrika Online during Barack Obama’s trip home to Kenya in September 2006.

Do you think Drudge needs Clinton to send him stuff like this?

  • It seems to me that the Obama people are believing Drudge, unless they have some other source of information about that photo.

This Obama person has read enough press releases to know what the Clinton response said. As Steve noted, there was no denial in there at all.

  • Do you think Drudge needs Clinton to send him stuff like this?

Do you think he’s an actual journalist who does his own reporting? He’s a mouthpiece for whatever political operative has dirt to disseminate. Usually it’s a GOP scumbag, but this time it seems someone from our side has sent it to him.

  • If it’s good(bad) enough for Josh Marshall and Steve B…

Why, are they infallible? How sweet. Honestly, I might just as well stop reading them and start reading Drudge.

  • This is what one can call a double-headed trap. While we believe that most people do not car about this, white, black, business elite, poor, latinos, asian, transgender, et al., we do see that the Clinton machine sees it’s only chance by targeting Barack Obama’s half-white/half-black balancing act by linking him to his Afrikhan heritage and then leaking that to clowns and psychos like the Matt Drudge, Savage, and Fox.

If George Bush can go to Afrikha and dance, do the wave, and all sorts of foolish things that would make even Condi Rice shake her head in embarassment, then at least a half-white/half-black person like Obama can be a politician and wear an Afrikhan garb for a evening’s photo op.

  • I thought it was common knowledge the Clinton campaign had been leaking to Drudge for the duration of this campaign.

  • It may be Just Me who thinks this is only a Drudge story, but I think it’s the accompanying non-denial from HRC’s camp that has received both Steve’s and Josh’s attention.

    Just Sayin’.

  • Seems to me it’s Drudge pushing the photograph and how stupid to be posting a story about something so ridiculous attempting to turn it into an issue by “just reporting”.

Really…who cares…who but a fool is remotely affected by it…why is anyone even calling the campaigns for a response?
Faithful bloggers just doing their duty and circulating the bullshit. Drudge counts on them.

  • There are two types of Obama supporters. The “normal” supporters of which I count myself. Then there are the Lama Obama types. They are as stuck in knee-jerk Clinton bashing and believing every smear even if it comes from the rightwing noise machine. Black and white. They “know” things.

For instance, the Obama picture. Did anyone notice that the Obama people accused the Clintons BEFORE the email from the Clinton people came out? With all the unknowns of the situation they are SURE it was Clinton’s campaign disseminating something that was publicly available for 2 years. For them a non-denial is a confession. There is no possiblity that perhaps denying an accusation would be dignifying it with a response. No question of if it was being passed around was it an intra-campaign sharing for laughs?

I really don’t know the facts behind this. But I know I don’t know. The Lama Obamas “know” Clinton is behind it.

With all the fear that Clinton is engaging in Rovian tactics, we might miss out on the possibility that Lama Obamites have a Rovian mindset and the true believer attitudes of the Republican ditto-heads.

  • starfleet_dude – Her campaign says they don’t know yet if one of their staffers sent the photo or not. But please, feel free to take Drudge’s word for gospel. Don’t give the Clinton campaign time to investigate it before issuing a denial or not. Don’t imagine for a minute that Drudge would make something up.

  • There’s a difference in how an intentional Drudge leak would be done and what this leak looks like.

If it is true (and we only have Drudge’s word on it) it was a forwarded internal email complaining about campaign coverage. An intentional leak would not have included whining by Clinton’s campaign about how unfair the media coverage is. It really looks like Drudge is going for the two-fer – digging up something on Obama and then pinning it on Clinton’s campaign. Much like was done in the past, as noted in the original post, with Obama and madrassa stories.

But since Drudge controls the media, this story will get reprinted far and wide.

  • Her campaign says they don’t know yet if one of their staffers sent the photo or not.

    Better non-denial denials, please… 🙂

Seriously though, all HRC’s campaign has to say is, we wouldn’t do this sort of thing and if anyone did they’ll be gone/reassigned/given a stern talking to. End of story.

  • starfleet_dude – There is the chance this will happen if it proves to be the case. For all we know some staffer sent it to a coworker as an internal gripe about how the media treats Hillary.

Like I said on my first post on this thread, I wish you people would stop believing shit drudge reports.

  • Humor should be Obama’s first response to this type of nonsense, regardless of it’s source. I think by now most people have noticed the Obama has some African blood. He isn’t trying to pass. Anyone swayed by that photo was never going to vote for him anyway.

  • Like I said on my first post on this thread, I wish you people would stop believing shit drudge reports.

I don’t. I’d like to believe what comes out of HRC’s campaign shop though, which is what got the attention of Steve and Josh Marshall in the first place.

  • What’s the big hoopla about anyways. Drudge readers have already made up their minds, so the picture was only re-enforcing what they already believed.

It’s left sites that are making this a big deal, they are the reason that Obama had to comment on the picture to begin with. If CB and the zillion other bloggers would let Fox and Dredge alone, the only people seeing this garbage would be the devout. Now this is probably going to make the national media.

QUIT GIVING DREDGE, RUSH, & FOX A LIBERAL STAGE.

If Clinton wanted to get the pic out, I highly doubt she would go to Matt Drudge, end of story.

  • What is the shame of being Muslim.. hmmmmmmmmm lets see all clerics in the Muslim world have declared Jihad on the Infadels! Infidels is described by the muslims of anyone who does not believe in there God allah! Have any of you research Obamas background? sadly you have not! As a child obama attended muslim schools! His Father is a Muslim! He DOES have muslim ties!! Obama voting record on abortion is appauling! He would kill full term Babies even if they live through the abortion process, He voted against a bill to suplly life saving medical care to children that live through an abortion!! Thats just plain sick! America better wake up and See where this country is headed! Before long between the muslim and latino population we will be the minority! And you will have the votes out there available for a Mexican and or Muslim President! Vote away, just remember when he is in Office you voted for him! His agenda is darker and deeper than you all believe it is!

  • palmbeachmaven, I eat ahi tuna all the time. It’s delicious, and worth the price. Just because someone’s favorite recipe doesn’t involve the cheapest ground beef Sam’s Club carries doesn’t mean they’re somehow out of touch with America and elite.

Not that I’m defending Cindy McCain — it’s more in defense of Ahi Tuna!

  • ScotN (#39) says: If Clinton wanted to get the pic out, I highly doubt she would go to Matt Drudge, end of story.

Please send me your e-mail, Scot. I have a guaranteed way to predict hits in Hollywood and make a bazillion dollars. It only requires everything you own to make it a success and I am sure you are the kind of Intelligent Analyst who will be able to see it for the Opportunity it is.

Your unceasing efforts to demonstrate the high intelligence of the Standard American Rightie are hereby commended.

  • If Clinton wanted to get the pic out, I highly doubt she would go to Matt Drudge, end of story.

Who else is there? Srsly. Not that I want another Drudge, but thankfully there does seem to be only one like him. Even Taylor Marsh wouldn’t do, as time is of the essence here and shi, er, word from Taylor just wouldn’t travel fast or widely enough before March 4th.

  • My local rag is running the picture on the frontpage of its Web site. The first thing that came to my mind, before I read the backstory, is that the Rethugs are doing this as a tie-in with Kristol’s lapel pin attack. The Rethug line will soon be, Obama can’t put on a flag pin, but a turban gives him no trouble. Let’s wait and see if this line of attack materializes.

  • @ Tom Cleaver: insurgents are completely inside the Authority’s OODA loop,

I’d like to read that initial post you had on this.
Any chance you saved it? Or have the link?
    Thanks.

  • Second Clinton campaign statement, by

“We have over 700 people on staff. I don’t know if someone on our staff sent it out or not,” Elleithee said. “If someone on our staff makes the point that we are treated differently by the press than Sen. Obama, we agree with that sentiment. We don’t think there’s anything wrong with this photo. Sen. Clinton has herself, while traveling abroad, dressed in traditional, local dress. And there’s nothing divisive about that.”

He also tried to push back at Obama: “We think it is wrong for the Obama campaign to say that this is divisive photo. It’s not a divisive photo.”

    Josh Marshall’s analysis:

When we first heard about this brouhaha this morning, we didn’t want to do anything with it before we heard what the Clinton camp had to say, for the reasons I described in the initial post. We know that without doing some sort of exhausted internal investigation, there’s no way a national campaign can say that no one in their campaign had anything to do with it. There’s high-level stafff, mid-level, hundreds of volunteers, etc. That’s not what we were looking for. In most cases, in a situation like this a campaign or in this case, say, perhaps Howard Wolfson or some other top level staff would say: “We don’t condone this. We didn’t authorize this. As far as we know no one in our organization had anything to do with this. Our campaign is made up of hundreds of people. So we can’t say definitively that someone somewhere didn’t make a stupid decision. But this isn’t something the campaign has anything to do with.” We pushed and pushed. But we didn’t get anything like that. The new statement goes further. But not that much. The Clinton campaign is either terribly inept at dealing with the story or they know or suspect that it’s accurate. In any case, what we try to do is give you the background to the blaring headlines you see and the benefit of what we find out through our own reporting. That’s just what we did in this case.

    (My emphasis)

  • It could as likely be that the Obama campaign is collaborating with Drudge to smear Clinton.

This is a distraction because there is no way to get to the bottom of who leaked the photo (or whether anyone leaked it at all). Obama is not denying that it is him in the photo and Clinton is not saying there is anything wrong with him being there, so this is a non-issue, except for those who want to blame Clinton for the existence of a picture she had nothing to do with.

If some paper comes out with a report that Obama got a parking ticket, will Clinton be blamed for telling the news about that too? Maybe she made Michelle tell everyone he snores too.

  • Obama voting record on abortion is appauling! -Darren

Hey, wait a minute…that typo…appauling. It’s almost like there is a subliminal message in there….Hmmm…

    Nah, just a stupid troll.

  • ROTFLMLiberalAO asked for my comment about “being in their OODA loop”.

This is an e-mail from my good friend Chuck Spinney, former Senior Pentagon Analyst who worked with Colonel John Boyd in the formulation of the Boyd theory of 4th Generation Warfare, aka asymmetrical warfare, aka successful insurgency:

I think Obama is running (no doubt unconsciously) a classic Motherhood & Mismatch (M&M) strategy (or Boyd’s Moral Design for Grand Strategy) on Hillary. That is to say, Obama is driving wedges of contradictions between the 3 poles of the triangle: (1) What she SAYS she is; (2) what she REALLY is; and (3) the WORLD she has to deal with. And she is blundering into one cul de sac of her own making after another … it is a little like watching Sen. John Tower fold up in OT&E debate in mid-80s (discussed in Coram’s book on Boyd).

The biggest mismatch of all has yet to become manifest, which gets to your point about Alinsky: The mismatch between her central claim of competence (what she says she is) and her incompetence in running a large organizations ( which creates mismatches between what she really is and between the world she has to deal with). This is clear once one considers that the primary campaigns are the biggest organizational endeavors she and Obama have ever run … and clearly, based on her performance, particularly given her hugely advantageous position last summer, the answer to the question of WHO IS THE MOST COMPETENT MANAGER? becomes self evident. Add in the health care fiasco of 1993 and the case is overwhelming.

My conclusion: Obama is so far inside her OODA loop that her orientation is now shaping her observations and decisions, and it is beginning to look like her decision loop is predictably going non linear and producing entropy at a rate that is blossoming into chaos. — and that kind is what moral isolation and collapse is all about.

But, like Patton, I have to say, “god help me, I love it.”

The comment about Alinsky relates to my comment to him that people need to understand that Obama, as a Chicago community organizer, would have read “the bible,” Saul Alinsky’s book Reveille For Radicals which is the manual for bottom-up grassroots insurgent campaigns. As someone who read the book (and met Alinksy 40 years ago), everything I see the Obama campaign doing is right out of Alinsky’s book. (It’s also right out of Mao Tse Tung and Vo Nguyen Giap on how to overthrow empires).

OODA means “Observe/Organize/Decide/Analyze” – if the opponent gets inside the decision loop, those doing the deciding will aim their blows where the opponent isn’t, and as they flail away they will become their own worst enemy. Look at Hillary, or Chiang Kai-Shek in China, or the United States in Vietnam (or little George in his invasion of Poland) to see what is what.

  • It could as likely be that the Obama campaign is collaborating with Drudge to smear Clinton.

That’s highly doubtful, as it doesn’t help Obama much with those already inclined to support Clinton and obviously reinforces past GOP spin.

  • OTOH, it’s possible that Obama did put it out there to make Clinton look bad which would make sense from a dirty tricks POV.

  • Yes, but would a straight denial matter?

I like their answer better, even if it would be better with another sentence of, “And to my knowledge we have not use that photo.”

So not liking the allies of the two Democratic candidates today.

  • Clinton’s campaign has denied putting out the photo.

    Obama, IMO, overreacted.

    Once again, quit believing drudge.

  • Tom Cleaver.
I have been wrong before and not too proud to admit it. If Clinton’s campaign put this out and it’s get traced back to them I think their slowly losing support will turn into drastically losing support.

It seems like a really, really stupid thing to do. So stupid in fact, that I don’t think it’s possible.

    Darren #40
Hey your doctor called, he said to get back on your meds.

  • Yes, Mr. Furious. I actually believe Wolfson over Drudge.

Of course, Drudge is so often correct, isn’t he?

    sigh

  • What I don’t understand… What’s the big deal about the picture itself? It looks a bit like a dress and it makes him look silly. But a lot of people who go abroad on official or semi-official trips get to dress in the national costume of the country they’re visiting and it always makes them look silly, because they don’t know how to move in it (you walk differently in a kimono or a sari, then you do in a Western dress) and feel self-conscious about it.

So I don’t see how this photo can be described as “divisive” or a “smear”. If he’d been caught half-naked, brandishing one of those jihadist swords, it would have been something else…

  • Regardless of any Clinton complicity in the Obama Somali photo slur, I have confidence in American voters. Since 1954, Japanese-American Senator Dan Inouye has served the very community most scarred by Pearl Harbour. However his Medal of Honor earned in Italy in 1945 may have silenced overt racists. Australians like myself are good friends of a America that rises above the cynical, the desperate or the immoral aspects of democratic practice.

  • Mr. Furious – #20…The e-mail, which has never been shown to have been sent to the press by the Clinton campaign, addresses the unfair treatment of Hillary by the press. That’s all it said. Why is the Clinton campaign somehow obligated to disavow an e-mail that says what many of us think? The photo of Obama is noteworthy for a lot of reasons. Photos of politicians in funny costumes often appear in the press because they’re different. It’s unfortunate for Obama that he has to deal with the Muslim rumors, but that’s not Hillary’s problem. Pehaps he should consider not having his photo taken wearing a turban. That would be a good start, rather than whining when it shows up in the press.

Again…this was nothing but something that Drudge put up…unsourced allegations with a picture that was in the public domain. This race card drama queen schtick by the Obama campaign wore thin some time ago.

  • This tactic has the HillCamp fingerprints all over it. Both Hillary and Bill had planned from the beginning much before the primaries started that Obama can be silenced by making mockery of his race, religion, upbringing or just his genetic makeup. They had amassed surrogates to paint the picture for them in each state.

    1. New Hampshire – Hillary’s campaign chair William Shaheen circulates message that Obama was a drug dealer.

    2. Iowa – Bob Kerrey stands up besides Hillary on stage and mocks Obama’s middle name as well as gives a distorted view of Obama’s religion.

    3. South Carolina – Bubba Clinton ( the devil himself ) tries to denegrade Obama’s win as racist, by making it a parallel to Jessie Jackson’s win there.

    4. Pennsylvania – Hillary surrogate, PA governor Ed Rendell says ‘some white voters not ready for a black president’.

    5. Ohio – Governor Strickland makes the following racist remark – Obama is “a face that Democrat Union voters wouldn’t want at their dinner table.”

These are just a few I could think off. This is probably just the tip of the iceberg.

Now is it really surprising that HIllary and her camp wanted Obama’s picture in a black muslim country to be floated out right now. Not really. Their campaign book is filled with tactics like this. They can always ask Hillary to tell the public that Obama is taking a page out of the Karl Rowe book, and then while Obama tries to defend himself, leak out a page from the copy of the Karl Rowe book in the Clinton library.

    Shame on you Hillary.

  • Clinton sociopathic temerament really does think she is above the intelligence of the American people. Her days are numbered, she will cling to all her failing ideals and weaponry. I pity her. She is really so morally vacant and her attacks, as bad as they have been in the past, are passive compared to her ‘screaming rage’ and loss of control inside. America is not her dream…..POWER is.

  • canadagirl…your perceptive powers are matched by no one I know except for Peggy Noonan. The power to read minds is a wonderful gift for you, is it not?

  • If wearing the traditional dress of his father’s tribe makes Obama Muslim, then GWB really is a combat pilot.

  • Jeff…no. Why do you ask? And since we’re on the subject, are you one of those drooling Obama fanboys?

  • Steve-O, I am a democrat. Don’t assume that all democrats are Bill Clinton fans. He brought shame to the democratic party by fooling around in the white house with Monica. He will be remembered first and foremost for the Monicagate. His legacy cost Al Gore the presidency. Otherwise we wouldn’t be in this current mess in Iraq.

  • Janet…I don’t assume that all democrats are Bill Clinton fans. I’m not a Bill Clinton ‘fan’. But I do recognize that his 8 years in the WH was vastly better than the alternative. I also know that anyone saying …Bubba Clinton ( the devil himself ) … isn’t seriously any kind of democrat. But where you really went over the top (it would be ‘jumped the shark’ if I was younger) was with the “brought shame to the dem party thing…only remembered for Monicagate…cost Gore the election…” stuff. All those are the off tackle play straight out of the republican playbook. The default setting. And you say you’re a democrat?

You sound more like a republican to me. MHO

  • Obama is so touchy about this photo because it reveals the truth about him, He was a Moslem fror more than half his life. In Hawaiian schools, on leaving Indonesia, his religion was listed as “Muslim”. Now he is a CLOSET MOSLEM.

I’ve grown up around a few Moslems. You just don’t walk away from that religion.
His stepdad, Lolo, was a Wahabbi Moslem — the same people who flew into the Twin Towers on 9/11. His childhood friend reported on the web that Obama used to run to pray at the Mosque, daily, wearing a sarong – Islamic men’s dress.
If anyone has a photo of Obama in a sarong- they should post it on the web.
Obama was and is a Moslem, in mentality, orientation, mannerism, attitudes to women – have you noticed how he shouts at Hillary in debates? He and Michelle should never set foot in the Wh House. She was only proud to be an American a few days ago (forget that she got into an Ivy league university thanks to affirmative action – something she should have been proud of then — these two are not ready for prime time,,,
Obama gets all shkop when the truth about him comes out.
Truth is not dirty politicking. Obama told his campaign not to mention that his name is Hussein. Lies, deception and cover-ups. Obama’s total mannerism are of an Immam (a Moslem priest screaming to his flock). Try as he might – he cannot shake off his Molslem roots.
Now Obama says his trips to the mosque were social. Boys 10, 11, or 12, do not socialize in mosques. They are not allowed to socialize with girls. He went to socialize with boys? He went to pray to Allah – who hates Infidels – which is what he is today.
Do we need a schizophrenic president? A liar? A deceiver?
Come on, Obama, stop misleading us. He was a devout Moslem – just as he claims to be a devout Christian now – at Chicago’s Afro-centric church.
Stop covering up your Islamic past, Obama. I don’t trust Moslems. I don’t trust you.
