I honestly wonder sometimes which country these guys are living in.
Hannity: I think the Democrats have gone further left than anybody would have anticipated. I think these bloggers have really gotten to them. I think they’re really positioning themselves that they’re gonna have a very difficult time moving center. Do you see that?
Russert: Absolutely, because what has happened, the Democrats will acknowledge, for example, on the war. The major candidates were very reluctant to consider voting, cutting off funding a year ago. Now they will say that circumstances on the ground have changed so much, they want to make that vote.
And people wonder why I gave up on television news.
Dems have “gone further left than anybody would have anticipated”? Really? On what? Name one issue on which the Democratic policy position is not the mainstream position embraced by a majority of Americans.
Russert thinks Dems are “absolutely” going to find it hard to move to the center? First, Dems are already in the center. Second, Russert’s proof is that a handful of leading Dems voted against Bush’s war-funding policy — a position that was embraced by the vast majority of the country.
I realize Russert was probably just on FNC to promote his book, between the shot at Democratic presidential candidates and this more general shot at the party, does he really have to match his rhetoric with the network’s?
