Hannity, Russert on Dems going ‘further left than anybody would have anticipated’

I honestly wonder sometimes which country these guys are living in.

Hannity: I think the Democrats have gone further left than anybody would have anticipated. I think these bloggers have really gotten to them. I think they’re really positioning themselves that they’re gonna have a very difficult time moving center. Do you see that?

Russert: Absolutely, because what has happened, the Democrats will acknowledge, for example, on the war. The major candidates were very reluctant to consider voting, cutting off funding a year ago. Now they will say that circumstances on the ground have changed so much, they want to make that vote.

And people wonder why I gave up on television news.

Dems have “gone further left than anybody would have anticipated”? Really? On what? Name one issue on which the Democratic policy position is not the mainstream position embraced by a majority of Americans.

Russert thinks Dems are “absolutely” going to find it hard to move to the center? First, Dems are already in the center. Second, Russert’s proof is that a handful of leading Dems voted against Bush’s war-funding policy — a position that was embraced by the vast majority of the country.

I realize Russert was probably just on FNC to promote his book, between the shot at Democratic presidential candidates and this more general shot at the party, does he really have to match his rhetoric with the network’s?

Was there ever a time when Tim Russert was actually something besides a corporate “rent boy” and could demonstrate his competence to hold the jobs he did, or was he really always just another of the otherwise-unemployables who end up in “journalism” for lack of an alternative?

  • I also gave up TV news, because the talking heads have the analytical skills of sixth graders.

  • Tom’s right about Timmeh being a “rent-boy.”

Timmeh is also a deluded sack of shit.

I caught (unfortunately) his last appearance on the Daily Show. Timmeh talked about how hard it was to be an “investigative” journalist because he had to sit next to the phone waiting for a phone call.

    Hahahahahahahahaha.

I betcha that Seymour Hersh probably threw up in his mouth when he heard that one from Timmeh Pumpkinhead.

  • They consider their opinions about Americans valid? They seem to pay little attention to the polls. They are too busy trying to support and prove what they hope is right rather than what is.

They are so far behind the times it’s just pathetic that they are still on TV. Many of us stopped watching or paying attention to them that they are nearly irrelevant except as to what the blogs report about them. Thanks to their one sided bull the blogs have grown stronger as the only place to get real news and opinions.

Investigations like the “Libby affair” have shown these reporters are just mouthpieces for political operatives never to be taken seriously again. Blah blah blah blah Timme.

  • I honestly wonder sometimes which country these guys are living in.”

I think it’s the land with that shining city on the hill — the one that only allows republicans. Dems, foreigners and all the other unworthies live in the swamps and forests down below.

  • Russert: It’s a TV show. If you can’t handle TV questions, how you gonna stand up to Iran and North Korea and the rest of the world?”

Now you no why I rip Kucinich every chance I get.

That bliss ninny actually cares more about getting traction on his doomed run for Presidency… than he does about telling Ailes to stick “fair and balanced” up Hannity’s perfumed ass…

Remember: this is THE network that Cheney insists gets tuned in on the suites he checks into as VP.

Since when do Vice Presidents publicly lend support to privately owned TV networks?

    WTF?
What kind of a third world slum has America become?

As far as I am concerned:

Kucinich and toothless Biden deserve every ounce of scorn we can heap on them…

    As for Russert…

At one time, I actually thought calling him potato head was an unfair slur…
But one just can’t escape it: He stinks on ice….

  • Russert, aka Little Piggie, does not want to lose his tax cuts and his access to power. After 2006, he chimes wewewe all the way home.

Kucinich is actually an avatar of Nader.

  • Russert and Hannity are just playing a scam on the Dems. I would worry that the Dems are gullible enough to fall for it. It’s like if two asshole jock guys notice that Melvin P. Nerdley is doing good with some young woman they like, so they stage a conversation for him to overhear where they say that he’s going overboard doing something (which, in actuality, is the thing or quality the girl likes him for). Russert is like Mathews- he goes on hit jobs for the Republicans, putting Dems through questionings that they should realize are designed to put them in a bad light. Then he has a fig leaf (for Mathews, it’s been supporting Hillary Clinton more recently). Anyway, the Repubs feel that the Dems are going to get away with it if they keep pushing on Iraq (i.e., the public is not going to take them to task for it) and the Repubs- by this I mean the core neocon Repubs- see part of their agenda threatened, so they get these guys to do this contrives conversation about how the Dems are going “two far left,” which anybody with half a brain should be able to see is a put-together conversation. Then the Dems hear about it, and are supposed to have doubts about what they’ve been doing, even if other indicators have been showing them they’re safe with it.

  • “two far left,”

oops, should be “too far left.” Anyway, point is anybody should be able to see Dems are not too far left, and Hannity and Russert are talking shit.

  • “Television is to news what bumper stickers are to philosophy.”

    — Richard M. Nixon

  • Left? Left? The Democratic Party is ‘left’ the way Velveeta is ‘cheese’.

When I start to hear people advocating in polite company the abolition of private property, then I’ll think Russert’s on to something, but not until.

  • It’s people like Tim Russert who have destroyed the public’s trust of the major “news” organizations. He is a pathetic wimp.

  • Russert has been a right-wing hack for a very long time … and NBC has been trying on “Fox News light” for years. As a once die-hard NBC fan, I hate it.

    BAC

  • I think you’re really playing this down more than it is. You have Dennis Kucinich trying to impeach Cheney which was not even approved by Speaker of the House, Barack wants to go negotiate and meet with Chavez and Ahmadinejad, and Hillary approves of Governor Spitzer’s driver licenses for ilegal aliens, which 77% of the country according to polls are against. So yes they are leaning left, not sure how far left, but they are not in the center on issues. They are playing alot of partisan politics instead of working on real issues, and Pelosi trying to denounce the Ottoman empire for the Armenian massacre when Turkey is our key ally in that region is just stupid and again, leaning to the far left in order to appease them, not to actually do what the majority of Americans want them to do….
