Hastert’s office wants Dems to offer ‘humble gratitude’

Sometimes, I just have to wonder if I live in the same country as these guys (via NewsUnfiltered).

Ron Bonjean, communications director for Speaker of the House J. Dennis Hastert (R-IL) today issued the following statement:

“Every day is not an election day, but it seems for the Democrats it is. Today our British allies and U.S. intelligence services were able to identify, intercept, and impede a terrorist plot because we have given them the tools to fight this intelligence-driven Global War on Terror. Instead of humble gratitude, the Democratic Leadership suggested that increasing democracy in the Middle East is distracting us from homeland defense.”

Up is down, black is white. When these guys talk about creating their “own reality,” they’re really not kidding.

So Bush & the Republican’ts fully embrace democracies like in Venezuela & reject non-democracies like Saudi Arabia, right?

Oh, I forgot that I live in the real world & believe in telling the truth.

Sad that the peasants in Monty Python & the Holy Grail could tell governments apart better than the leaders of our country.

Hey, look at Bush, ‘e must be King…..

  • I have no way of knowing how much our British allies relied on U.S. intelligence. My guess is not much. We still haven’t acknowledged what U.S. intelligence there was (left over from Clinton’s administrtion) telling us about what to expect on 9/11.

  • So the the White House sits on a terror alert, long enough to arrange the political angle before releasing it, and every day is election day for Dems? The retaliban party has left reality so far in the rear view mirror, that their only hope for returning is to send all their officials home and start over.

  • That’s their story and they’re sticking to it. Notice how US intelligence is the hero here too, when actually the story has been British intelligence and the help of Pakistan. Their lie will be how the Bush administration successfully thwarted this planned terrorist attack and how the traitor Dems just wish the planes had blown up. It’s always worked before and there are 100 days until the election.

  • I’m perfectly happy to thank the British for saving our butts.

God knows, we couldn’t expect it from the Bushites.

  • To take Hastert’s line a little further, I haven’t heard those unrateful British bastards praising Republicans for foiling the plot either. When will that queen get off her throne and kiss the ring of the real King George?

  • “Increasing plutocracy (government by the wealthy) in the US is making me millions with highway earmarks while increasing urban sprawl and increasing our dependence on Middle East oil.” Denny Hastert

Dems, can you at least try to work on increasing some democracy here at home so got something to defend?

  • Oh, that’s rich.

“Instead of humble gratitude, the Democratic Leadership suggested that increasing democracy in the Middle East is distracting us from homeland defense.”

Well, I’m not a Democratic Leader or anything, but if Rep. Haster really wants gratitude, I’m only too happy to supply it.

Once he’s decided which orifice he’d rather suck it out of.

  • “Humble gratitude” indeed! Does Hastert have no shame? I suppose now that Tom Delay is gone the strain of actually having to be Speaker of the House is getting to him.
The next time Dennie wants to start sounding impressive the Democrats need to bring up his questionable financial deals to shut him up.
In fact if I were the Illinois Democrats I would send a group of Democratic supporters to
Hastert’s next speaking engagement wearing T-shirts with the statement:
Ask me about my highway deal!
Let’s see the look on his face then.
