I don’t usually do this, but I wanted to recommend that everyone run out this weekend to see a movie called Matchstick Men (opening today in theaters nationwide).
First of all, it’s a great flick. As Richard Roeper, of Ebert & Roeper fame, said, “[I]t’s just a joy to see a film like this.”
It stars Academy Award nominee Nicolas Cage and was directed by the legendary Sir Ridley Scott, who also directed classics such as Gladiator, Thelma & Louise, Alien, and Blade Runner.
Second, the movie is based on a book written by a friend of mine from high school, Eric Garcia, a prodigiously-talented writer and all-around good guy.
Go. Enjoy.
