High standards for movies, low standards for presidents

Sony’s movie studio made up critical praise for some of its movies and used quotes from a non-existent critic in its TV ads. The Bush administration made up fake-news segments featuring an actress pretending to be a reporter in its televised propaganda.

One of the two is embarrassed and will pay $1.5 million in an out-of-court settlement to a class-action lawsuit. Can you guess which one?

Take a look at my guest post at Crooks & Liars to see how we hold movie studios to a higher standard than the president.

I don’t know the law at all, but couldn’t someone say they voted for Bush based on the fake news? And then sue just like the guys who sued Sony?

I’d contribute to the legal fund.
