A couple of internal housekeeping notes to mention:
First, hopefully regular readers now know that a Carpetbagger guest-poster, whom I fondly call “Morbo,” is now offering words of wisdom every Saturday. Be sure to swing by.
Second, I’ll be offering a special, one-time post on Sunday in honor of the Super Bowl. I’ve never offered a single word about football in the site’s two-year history, but this will be an exception. Here’s a teaser: it’s an analysis weighing the disparate standards applied to football coaches and U.S. presidents.
And, finally, if readers were so inclined, the fine folks at Wampum are wrapping up the second round of the acclaimed Koufax Awards. The Carpetbagger Report is nominated in three categories — Best Blog by a non-professional, Best Series (for the “Poll Day” series I ran during the presidential campaign), and Blog Most Deserving of Wider Recognition. (I’m really only hoping to make the final round in the latter category and probably wouldn’t even vote for myself in the first two.) A sincere thanks to everyone who has already voted for me, but if the rest of you had a moment…
Post Script: It occurred to me that some readers have mentioned that they don’t know how to vote in the Koufax Awards. It isn’t difficult at all: follow one of the links I included in the previous paragraph. Go to the very bottom, where it says “Post a comment.” Type in your name and email address in the appropriate fields, and where it says “Comments:” type in the name of the blog you wish to vote for. Then press the “Post” button below.
Voting ends Monday.
