Housekeeping note

First, my warmest holiday wishes to everyone. No matter what you’re celebrating, or whether you’re celebrating anything at all, I hope you’re enjoying the season.

Second, a quick scheduling note. Posting will probably be very light today, in large part because it’s the slowest news day of the year. There will, however, be some content for readers stopping by — Saturday contributor Morbo will be stopping by shortly with some words of Christmas-related wisdom, and I’ll probably have another item or two later today.

As for the rest of the week, a regular posting schedule will resume tomorrow, though I’ll also be guest-posting for Kevin Drum at Washington Monthly. (I’ll be cross-posting content, so readers of both sites may be a little disappointed.)

Happy Holidays to one and all.

Merry Christmas!

  • All your work this year has made my life easier, and eventually we can hope it makes our lives better, as we struggle to take back our country from the thieves who have stolen it from us. I know I am not missing something important because I can come to the Carpetbagger and find it all, nicely packaged and with sufficient snark.
    May your day be peaceful.

  • To Mr. and Mrs. CB and all the readers of this blog:

    Merry Christmas
    Happy Hannkah
    Joyous Kwanzaa
    Blessed Winter Soltice
    Festive Festivus
    Peaceful Tet
    Happy Holidays

And Bah Humbug to those who spoil the season with…

    The War on Christmas
Images of crosses in political advertising
If you don’t support Bush, you hate america
Go shopping, or the terrorists win
    Waterboarding
A marriage is only a man and a woman

A happy and joyous holiday to everyone else!

  • Happy Holidays to all ! Let’s all work hard to bring a Democratic President into the White House in January 2009 who will reverse all the things Bush has done to us.

  • CHRISTMAS-IN-IRAN: Wow, 10 more gas-centrifuges…Thanks you, Uncle Khan! Actually, with U.S. military forces hovering on both their east & west borders, maybe Iran is just working an angle from Saddam’s old playbook; Feign a WMD program?

Yes, 9/11 was an inside job! Along with oil, Saudi Arabia exports their domestic political tensions, with the result being we, Israel and now Iraq take the hit.

  • ORIGINS OF IRAQI SUICIDE BOMBERS (since 2003):

    Saudia Arabia 53
    Iraq 18
    Italy 8

  • Bring Us Home Again

    He slowly came awake today
and he lumbered to his feet,
for it was just two hours
before that he faded off to sleep.

He donned the day’s attire and
    grabbed his M-16.
He headed off to breakfast to keep
    him strong and lean.

As he walked down to the chow line
    he kept a watchful eye.
    He didn’t want the enemy
    to take him by surprise.

As the chaplin said a special prayer
    on this very special day,
he kept thinking of his family
that is oh so far away.

He rubbed his left breast pocket
where he keeps a picture of his wife
and a letter from his daughter that
    he reads most every night.

He fought back a single tear
as he stared out at the sand,
wishing he could be back home
with his family close at hand.

He shook his head to clear his thoughts
and then be on his way.
    He’s defending our great country
and has little time to play.

When he got out to the fence line,
    his buddy by his side,
    he exchanged a “Merry Christmas”
    followed by a tired sigh.

    He climbed upon the watchtower,
    his mouth a tiny grin.
He said, “Merry Christmas to the world”
and “God, please, bring us home again”.

    Keep Up The Fire, Manchus
