I have good news and bad news. The bad news is, I’m taking an exceedingly rare day off, my first since February.

The good news is, some friends of mine will filling in for me. Steve M. from No More Mister Nice Blog, Ron Chusid from Liberal Values, and Adam Serwer, a writing fellow at The American Prospect, will have plenty of posts for your reading pleasure. Make ’em feel at home.

I’ll be back tomorrow morning, and plan to maintain a normal schedule over the weekend.

And yes, everything from the guest posters will be on the final exam, so pay close attention.

  • OMG, What will Bill Press do for show material?

I am getting increasingly cheesed that everything he does appears to be lifted straight from your blog and he never mentions you.
Not just the occasional item explained by independent discovery. I mean to say NONE of his material isn’t on your blog.
    His opinions mimic yours.

He reads your blog then opens the phone lines.
Great work if you can get it.

If he’d just once in a while say “Over on Steve Benen’s Carpetbagger Report, this just in…”

    I accuse Press of plagiarism.

  • You see, this is what happens when you post 14 items on Wednesday. You have to take Friday off.

  • Have a great day – the weather is fantastic. You should really taek the whole weekend – you deserve it. You are incredibly prolific.

  • Happy Friday! And what clar-z said at #5 🙂

I started reading over here after you subbed at Salon–your writing and analysis are superior to anything I’ve read elsewhere. Have a great day!

  • Enjoy yourself. As others have written, you deserve sometime off, but let’s hope that the McCain campaign doesn’t implode while you have your eye off the ball.

  • Unlike others who dare to label him a slacker, I can only reply that Mr. Benen takes less time off in year than a Bushylvanian takes off in a day.

By the way—if Benen’s not around, are we allowed to actually hunt and kill the trolls now—or do we still have to limit ourselves to the mere “intellectual maiming beyond all semblance of recognition?”

  • Based upon the comments above, you can see that your people really appreciate you and what you do, and deservedly so. Take care Steve. Thank you….

  • Get some rest. We’ll need you on your toes for the next three months!\

I’ve got $10.00 says he’s going to see The Dark Knight. 🙂

  • Steve,

By the way—if Benen’s not around, are we allowed to actually hunt and kill the trolls now—or do we still have to limit ourselves to the mere “intellectual maiming beyond all semblance of recognition?”

I can’t speak for the other guest bloggers, but at Liberal Values I do not support anarchy and uncontrolled vigilantism in going after trolls. Instead I suggest that those going after trolls be properly licensed:

  • I like Ron’s troll-hunting license. And the word “Vexatious”!

It was irritating when it happened but the technique of posting under the troll’s nick worked pretty good with JakeD. Of course banning worked even better.
