‘I was shocked, especially at one senator but…’

Well, this might raise a few eyebrows on the Hill (via Atrios):

LARRY KING: Does that mean you have phone numbers that you’re following up?

LARRY FLYNT: Not just phone numbers.

KING: Names?

FLYNT: We’ve got good leads. We’ve got over 300 initially. And they’re down to about 30 now which is solid.

KING: When are you going to print?

FLYNT: Well, the last thing now is we don’t know if we want to let it to drip, drip, drip or we want to go with everything at once.

KING: You mean you might release 30 names at once?

FLYNT: A good possibility.

KING: Will we be — I don’t want to get into names yet. Will we be shocked?

FLYNT: Yes.

KING: Were you shocked?

FLYNT: I was shocked, especially at one senator but…

KING: One senator especially?

FLYNT: Yes.

Now, it’s hard to gauge the reliability of Flynt’s info at this point. Maybe he has accurate, scandalous evidence, maybe not. But if he was “shocked” by the evidence against one senator, it could be a big story.

Any guesses?

When was this interview? Was it before the Vitter revalation?

  • Here’s two that might explain alot–Arlen Specter or Pat Roberts. Assuming that Cheney knew as well.

    The most shocking? One of the women, but not Hillary.

    Among the men? Harry Reid.

  • Make it easy on yourselves: find the 30 senators who most touted “family values” and pushed for the abolishment of the separation of church and state the hardest. That should narrow it down by…. oh, wait… most Republicans do that.

    This should be fun.

  • If Flynt has the scoop on 30 Republican hypocrites then I hope he waits a few more months to let it rip so that the GOP will be unable to replace them with different Republican hypocrites before the 2008 elections.

    I also hope we get to see Lieberman finally get his due. That would, however, mean that I will have to give up my atheism. Because if Lieberman gets caught in a sex scandal, then there is a God.

    It would be most awesome if it were Brownback. If I weren’t so lazy I’d make a list of Sinators based on who make the biggest stink about consentual activities between adults. Then I’d know who else is on the list besides Brownbacker & Lugar.

  • Well, as we savor this question, let’s limit our fantasy to Senators who are still in office or at least still alive. And by those lights, any Rethug will do. (But I’m hoping for Hatch or anyone from Texas).

  • It’s not going to be former Senators — so nix the Santorum, Thompson, etc. Coleman would be no big shock to Flynt. A “shock” would be turn-coat Lieberman or Mormon holier-than-thou Hatch

  • For all the ill wishes on Lieberman, remember that if he were forced to resign, an ACTUAL Republican would be named to his seat, since the Governor of Connecticut is a Repub. As disappointing as the Lieb is, his presence allows us to have a majority.

    So, with that, I’m hoping that the other senators on the list are all Repubs. Socially-conservative, Bible-thumping Repubs. Hatch, Cornyn, Brownback, Roberts, Lott . . . that’d be great.

    Well, either that or Norm Coleman. I’d love to see his re-election prospects come tumbling down!

  • I saw the Larry King/Larry Flynt interview…it was last night – 7/17. I didn’t hear Mr. Flynt say that the 30 solid leads were all Republicans….Remember; hypocricy is also a two party system.

  • It could be a shock from the opposite extreme. Maybe Flynt was shocked to find out that Larry Craig hires female escorts? (probably to make himself look less gay)

  • Yup, this is an easy one. You just have to ask: Who is the most pious, sanctimoniusm, self righteous SOB of them all? Fightin’ Joe Leiberman, no doubt about it.

    There is one nagging little problem with this choice though, the Jewish aren’t anywhere near as uptight about sex as those Cracker Baptists. Who’s the most pious of that lot? I think I’ll go with whoever that is instead.
