If you’re a Dem, it’s in a pretty good spot right now.
In New York, Eliot Spitzer, Hillary Clinton, and Andrew Cuomo were big winners.
In Maryland, Baltimore Mayor Martin O’Malley (D) will beat Gov. Bob Ehrlich (R).
In Pennsylvania, Gov. Ed Rendell (D) apparently beat Lynn Swann (R) by a large margin.
In some key House race news, Paul Hodes (D) has beaten Rep. Charles Bass (R) in New Hampshire’s 2nd, Chris Murphy (D) has defeated Rep. Nancy Johnson (R); and in one of those House races Dems have been trying to get for years, Rep. Anne Northup (R) will lose to John Yarmuth (D) in Kentucky’s 3rd.
On a disappointing note, Charlie Crist (R) will apparently succeed Jeb Bush (R) as Florida’s next governor, beating Jim Davis (D).
Virginia’s Senate race is remarkably close, with just 1% difference. If the margin is less than 1% with all precincts reporting, there’s an automatic recount, which at this point, seems fairly likely.
So far, Republicans haven’t picked up a Dem seat anywhere — not in the Senate, not in the House, not in the governors’ races.
