Kerry’s looking very strong in Wisconsin

No wonder Dean backed out of his do-or-die pledge for Wisconsin. Kerry’s running away with the state.

An American Research Group poll released last night shows Kerry with a commanding lead.

Kerry — 53%
Edwards — 16%
Dean — 11%

And this was before Wesley Clark announced his endorsement of Kerry in Wisconsin, which may help boost Kerry’s numbers even higher.

The surprising numbers are seen in favorability ratings. Wisconsin Dems like Kerry and hate Dean.

ARG pegged Kerry’s favorability rating at 65%, up 12 points from just a week ago. Even though more Wisconsin Dems are aware of Dean, the former Vermont governor’s favorability rating is 19%, down a point from a week ago.

Keep in mind, these are Democrats. This means that fewer than one-in-five Dems in the state, regardless of who they’re planning to vote for, have a favorable opinion of Dean.

It’s even more remarkable when one considers the fact that Dean has been furiously campaigning in Wisconsin for over a week and has been airing as many campaign ads on TV as humanly possible.

It’s not working. They just don’t like him.
