Just FYI, today is Jan. 20. This means that exactly three years from today, Bush’s presidency will end.

It’s nice to have something to look forward to, isn’t it?

Unfortunately, not soon enough for me.

  • Can we put our country into warp drive and just get the nightmare over with? Where is the Star Trek technology when we really need it?

  • Ummmm… I dunno about you, but I’m kinda pushing for the frog-march well ahead of that date (But only if Cheney has a heart attack first. I can’t imagine how much worse he would be if he actually got the titular reins…)

  • This means that exactly three years from today, Bush’s presidency will end.

Knock on wood. His history shows his respect for the Constitution leaves a lot to be desired.

  • I wonder which Democrat would irk Shrub, er Bush most that he would have to ride next to, on Inaugration Day? Just some fanciful imagings…
    * Gore – that would be classic; the start of his address could be somewhat like that Dallas Season when they brough Patrick Duffy back…yes, it was just a nightmare.
    * Kerry of course would be annoying.
    * H Clinton – Laura & Georige would be spitting blood.
Now though, if it is any Democrat, perhaps the tradition of the the outgoing President – why that would just be another tradition that Bush casts aside!

    Comment by Steven Duffy Smith

Although it would not be the first time this happened, as reported on the History Channel’s recent viewings of “The Presidents.”

  • With all the new, opaque electronic voting systems being put in place by GOP-supporting companies, that just might be the case.

  • You don’t think they are expanding Presidential powers to pass on to someone else, do you?
There will be an attempt to repeal the 22nd. Amendment citing the “War on Terror”.

  • They won’t even bother to repeal it. That would require a drawn-out Constitutional process that would never get past the initial steps. He’s just going to claim war powers, just like he has for systematic torture and the massive spying on ordinary Americans. We have to destroy the Constitution in order to preserve it.

  • I’ll have to make 84 to be around for the big event. Can’t someone shorten the time line significantly please?

  • By then we will be in a horrific terror alert ….. with the color … “Blood and Gore Red”….. .
thus elections will need to be suspended until that unspecified time when our leader determines that the world is safe enough for Bush style democracy.

  • Hey, if Pervez can do it in backwards, third world Pakistan, why can’t the sitting at the right hand of g*d President of the M.F.’ing United States do it too? A transition of leader at such a critical time in the precarious, life hanging in the balance future of the HOMELAND is very, very, very risky. The Constitution abhors precariousness and it detests a vacuum. An election would signal a moment of lapsed vigilance of leadership, LEADERSHIP BY G*D!, which could be pounced upon by TERRORISTS! Best to move the Presidential elections to 2010 and hope, (all we have is hope), that DespotCo can, by that time, quell terroristic cravings throughout the world and hand democracy back to the frightened but oh so grateful huddled masses. Then again, elections are such expensive charades. Why bother? Mugabe and Kaddafi don’t have to sweat such shit. Why should Shrubbish?

  • Bush will be gone by Jan ’07. He’s gonna lose it as the pressure builds. He is so not ready for what’s coming. It is going to be so bittersweet; “Thank god it’s over! What, we have to clean up this mess?”

  • bush was never elected, hence he is appointed ruler, not president. besides this making all his judicial appointees invalid, marking a date on a calendar without first getting a verifiable paper ballot, is an exercise in futility.

  • A 10-step Junta:

    1) As conservatives are pathetic projectors, demonstrated by years of
    2) looking into their own profoundly dark souls, and thus
    3) projecting all their evil filth onto their political opponents,
    4) and if you recall the worried tinfoil protestations that
    5) Clinton wouldn’t willingly give up the WH to the Republicans,
    6) it is plausible therefore to project that
    7) when the reign of King George is to terminate on 1/20/09,
    8) assuming that the Democratic presidential candidate wins the election, that
    9) those dark impulses and motivations will emerge to prevent the abdication.

    10) The WOT will (of course) be the convenient excuse.

“Four more years” will be the battle cry.

  • Bush will be gone by Jan ’07. – Comment by Ian B

Praise the Intelligent Designer if it comes true Ian B but I think Shrubbish is actually coming into his most appropriate incarnation as a Little Boots Dictator. There’s a uniform with real epaulets hanging in his mental closet and maybe his real closet too. His malignant ego is unchecked by self doubt and his sense of entitlement isn’t experiencing any real pushback despite a lot of flailing angst.

He is ShrubCo’s meal ticket. He is his own favorite person. Well, next to Jesus anyway. In his simple world he and his bubble buddies are right and everyone else is getting on board, confused or nonexistent. It will take one hell of a hammering to get Shrubby out before his time.
