More progress on the Nick Smith bribery scandal

I’m still thinking about what to call this one. MediBribe? BribeCare? Bribe & Gloom?

In any event, the House Ethics Committee announced yesterday that Reps. Kenny Hulshof (R-Mo.) and Mike Doyle (D-Pa.), both relative moderates, will head up a bi-partisan investigative subcommittee to explore who offered Rep. Nick Smith (R-Mich.) a bribe on the House floor in exchange for his support for Bush’s Medicare bill.

Joining Hulshof and Doyle on the subcommittee will be John Shadegg (R-Ariz.), and William Delahunt (D-Mass.).

This is all routine. These four lawmakers will start a three-month fact-finding investigation. In June, they’ll report to the full committee, which will in turn conduct its own review of the controversy.

I don’t have any startling details to add to this, but wanted to mention it for those of you who have been following this scandal closely.
