More trouble for DeLay

Got this guy get into any more trouble?

A federal audit of a political fundraising committee founded by House Majority Leader Tom DeLay found that it failed to report more than $300,000 in debts owed to vendors and incorrectly paid for some committee activities with money from another DeLay-connected political committee.

The Federal Election Commission’s report didn’t indicate whether it would pursue enforcement action against Americans for a Republican Majority Political Action Committee.

As Jesse Lee noted, this comes on top of five admonishments from the House Ethics Committee, a grand jury probe of his Texas PAC, and the controversies surround his dealings with Abramoff.

Will “scandal fatigue” ever set in?

Let’s have a contest: most corrupt Repug in Congress: DeLay vs. Duke” Cunningham, Stevens, Young, Sensenbrenner, etc.

DeLay’s #1. No question.

  • Yes, DeLay is numero uno, hands down. Finally someone to firmly drive the finest art of congressional corruption into the industrial age. A competent person in other words.

The rest of the posse are just small-time crooks. Especially, Cunningham. The guy got his money straight from his cronies, for Pete’s sake! Never heard of laundering or what? Not even a little charity for kids or anything? Just a vile amateur.

  • Meanwhile, Jack is back. The first one is always special. AP (08.11.05):

“Federal prosecutors are seeking bank fraud charges against lobbyist Jack Abramoff, a key figure in investigations involving House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, The Associated Press learned Thursday.

The charges stem from the 2000 purchase by Abramoff and his partners of SunCruz Casinos and the alleged use of a fake wire transfer of $23 million aimed at influencing lenders to provide millions of dollars for the deal. Exact details of the charges were not immediately available.”

    Fraud Indictment Expected for Abramoff

The guy Jack and his buddies bought SunCruz from was Konstantinos “Gus” Boulis “for $147 million in September 2000, but the deal soon fell apart. Amid bitter legal fighting over the sale, Boulis was shot to death in February 2001 what police called a hit. The Fort Lauderdale killing has never been solved.”

    Tough crowd, eh?

  • Never ceases to amaze me all the trouble that GOP politicians get into and nothing seems to stick (except with Cunningham) at least so far.

Is it a case of being inured like violence. Is it a case of something that while obvious, wasn’t Nixonesque. Or is just not caring or letting some things slide be cause of 9/11. I don’t know but it is awfully frustrating.

When does the water erode the foundations. Where is the straw that broke the camels back.
