Please stay out of the Bushes

Former President George H.W. Bush suggested this morning on Fox News that his family may still produce even more political candidates.

Bush … said that he would like to see another generation of Bushes in public office. “I’ve got a grandson that would make a wonderfully able public servant if he ran, George P.,” said Bush. “And Pierce, Neil’s son. They have an interest in politics.” […]

If the next generation of Bushes were to enter public office, it would likely be more of the same politics put forth by the current president:

* George P. Bush, the son of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, has been actively involved in his family’s political fortunes since 1988, when he spoke at the Republican National Convention as a 12 year old. He was also heavily involved in his uncle’s 2000 and 2004 campaigns, working on outreach to the Latino community.

* Pierce Bush, the son of high-priced consultant Neil Bush, worked on his Uncle’s 2004 campaign, telling Larry King that “George W.’s done a great job.” He also shares some of his uncle’s frat boy “folksiness.”

Hasn’t this family done enough? Can’t they just leave us alone?

The horror…the horror…the horror.

  • Is America really foolish enough to elect more Bushes to political office after the number that George W. has done on us?

I think that Pappy is just stroking his own ego. And that of his wife, “Let them eat cake” Barbara.

  • I’d have to say that I’m more worried about Jeb Bush diving back into politics than I am – yet – worried about the next generation of Bushes; he’s keeping a low public profile for now, but I suspect that will change.

  • The mere thought of more Bushes in public life in general, and that retarded specimen Pierce, in particular, will keep me up nights for years on end. Thanks a lot.

  • The dynasty is dead. The Bush family has about as much of a chance returning to national politics as do the Tafts in Ohio. We’ll still be trying to undo the mess THAT piece-o-crap made of the Buckeye State a decade from now—and he was NOTHING compared to the atrocity that has been the Bush43 presidency….

  • I just saw a clip of GHWB on Late Edition lamenting on the Democrats saying mean things about Junior. You know I was never his biggest fan, even given that GWB has actually managed to make the old man look like maybe not such a terrible president after all, by comparison. But I couldn’t help thinking wow, it must really suck to be Gerorge W’s father. I mean any way you look at it, that has to suck.

  • The arrogance of this family is mind boggling, second only to the foolishness of the American people, who put two of them into the White House and one into the governorship of Florida, and who is still a threat to run for president.

I suppose one could say the same thing about the Kennedys.

    And maybe even the Clintons.

There’s something disturbing about the whole system. After eight years of the worst president in history, a man so monumentally unqualified for the job as to defy reason, the Republican Party can only offer a lineup of buffoons and clowns and misfits and second rate hacks for the presidency of the United States?

    The mind reels.

  • You know, as idiotic and anti-democratic as hereditary succession is, at least the royal families of Europe were limited by hemophilia.

Sadly, the American version of a would-be royal family seems to have as *its* Achilles’ heel only gut-wrenching stupidity as a built-in limitation on their ability to pursue and obtain power.

Unfortunately, our political system seems designed to treat that as an advantage instead of a flaw…

  • I don’t think America is sick of political dynasties. Except for the RABID 30% still supporting King George, I think America doesn’t want any continuation of the BUSH DYNASTY, not all dynasties in particular.

  • How is it that a nation of 303026362 people finds it necessary to contemplate twenty years, or more, of Presidents named only Bush or Clinton?

  • Prescott Bush should have been tried for treason and been hung for his support for Hitler and for trying to usurp Franklin. Had the country had the courage to pursue that outrage against the country. None of the Bushes would ever have had the opportunity to fail at any of the publics business.

I have no doubt that the younger generation, or even Jeb is eagerly awaiting the complete and utter ruination of this country and would be a willing participant into forcing the US to complete fascism.

And CalD, I always thought GHW was a mediocre president, until I got to know his son. He knew what an utter fool and tool his son was, and still foisted him on us. He could have told the country his son was an abject loser, but instead he proudly foisted him on us. George HW deserves to be ranked just above his son in the area of worsts.

  • Hasn’t our current President proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that frat boy “folkiness” is just about the worst leadership trait imaginable?

  • I dunno. There’s still Rockefellers and Vanderbilts… and Hiltons.. around.

DOUBLE the estate tax, that’s the solution to this nonsense.

    Tax the rich.

  • A friend in college had a great t-shirt. It simply said “Eat the rich.”

I do agree with Anne that Jeb is the one to worry about. Six years ago everyone thought Bill Clinton had no future. Memories are short.

  • “I’ve got a grandson that would make a wonderfully able public servant if he ran, George P.,” said Bush. “And Pierce, Neil’s son. They have an interest in politics.”

And since they are scions of an immensely corrupt, highly connected, wealthy, shameless family, they somehow merit – by virture of having an “interest” in politics some sort of serious consideration for the most powerful political office on the planet? If Pierce Bush EVER runs for any office, I hope that clip of his interview with Campbell Brown is played over and over and over again. It reveals how unattractive frat boy entitlement is before political consultants have tamed it to be compassionate conservatism. Ugh. Just. Ugh.

These people never stop grooming someone to aspire to high political office to ensure that their powers to acquire wealth continue undiminished in perpetuity. Got to “replenish the ol’ coffers” don’tcha know? And HWB can console himself with the notion that his political progeny are or aspire to be “public servants.” I suppose the Bush family and its legions of cronies are part of the public, but woe to those who are not set up to engage in their little “mutual benefit” dance. The whole premise is insulting.

Finally, HWB is distressed that people heap criticism on his son? Weepy because Georgie has made it look (at present) like a long shot that Jebby will ever be elected President? I can only say to him, “Bite me. You get no sympathy from me, old man. I am positive that you and your family all deserve much worse than what comes through to you via the media. I used to think you were at least marginally honorable. But, your incessant whining about how nasty the public (whom Dubya ostensibly serves) can be toward him and his perfect-storm presidency (incompetence, arrogance, and cronyism mixed with the certitude of entitlement) just drains from me any respect I might once have had for you. Save yourself and the rest of us by encouraging Pierce and P, respectively, to sell cars and real estate to people like Paris Hilton.”

  • Hey, I have an idea. Maybe the next president can use all thise really cool unitary executive powers that the chimp has to issue a signing statement or a secret executive order that bans all the descenants pf Prescott Bush (Hitler’s Banker) from ever holding public office or particpating in politics.

After all, what’s the point of having super executive powers if you can’t use them.

  • I don’t know when TeeVee is going to get it through its pixel-thin screen that the Bush Family is the Bush Crime Family. The last thing they care about is the American nation and its Constitution. Rather than touting major political roles for their over-privileged offspring, they should all be marched off to jail. Which isn’t going to happen – Pelosi’s taken things like that off the table, and Reid won’t hold Harry Truman style war profiteering hearings.

Edwards is the only candidate with a trial lawyer’s nose for successfully dealing with large corporations. Which is why the corporate stooges in the media are ignoring him. Hopefully, the good voters of Iowa and New Hampshire won’t. They’re our last hope.

As I type this another corporate pawn, Hillary, is glaring at me from over there in the left-hand panel; it’s unsettling. I’m outa here.

  • The Bush dynasty is public service like:
    a) Visigoths are to Roman civilization
    b) Dick Cheney is to gun safety
    c) Neocons are to nation-building
    d) Bush appointees are to protection of the Constitution
    e) rapists are to therapists
    ……..

  • “I’ve got a grandson that would make a wonderfully able public servant if he ran, George P.,” said Bush. “And Pierce, Neil’s son. They have an interest in politics.”

Oh, you mean in stark fucking contrast to the corrupt shithead your loins and your sociopathic wife have foisted on us?

Thanks, but you and your family have already taken a dump in our national nest large enough to suffocate the planet, so can you please shut the fuck up and do something honorable for your legacy, like get mass involuntary sterilizations for your whole fucking family for Christmas?

The rest of the world will thank you. No, really.

  • Another Bush is like eating too many green apples. They will make you sick. But in Bush case it will utterly destroy this country. My answer to another Bush is Hell No!!!
