Shrill leftists protect America from suicide bombers, right-winger claims

Retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Thomas McInerney regularly appears on Fox News, explaining why conservatives are tough and liberals are not. It’s standard-fare nonsense, hardly worth noticing or getting worked up about.

But my friend smiley wrote in today to note a bizarre comment McInerney made recently that leads to a conclusion McInerney may not like.

Retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Thomas McInerney, an author and terrorism analyst, says al Qaeda could execute a London-type train bombing “within 24” hours in the United States.

“But why attack here,” Gen. McInerney said in an interview, “when you have leftists in America who have aided and abetted the enemy more than Tokyo Rose did in World War II? They don’t need to set off bombs. If they set off bombs, they would silence the shrill of leftists in the United States.”

Let’s look past the pathetic claims about liberal treason, and focus instead on what McInerney is really suggesting.

We’re talking about someone with child-like sophistication, but let’s try to follow the logic anyway: The left whines about the war on terror, which makes the terrorists happy. If the terrorists executed a London-type train-bombing attack in the U.S., the left would stop whining, which would make the terrorists less happy. So, in order to keep leftist treason alive and well, the terrorists, which could attack “within 24 hours,” attack elsewhere. That’s McInerney’s argument.

Taking this to the next logical step, if this right-winger is right, shrill leftists keep Americans safe. Indeed, following McInerney’s logic, liberal treason needs to be kept up, not toned down. If leftists stopped undermining the war on terror, al Qaeda would lose its disincentive and be more inclined to set off bombs.

So, shrill leftists everywhere, I have a simple message for you: keep up the good work. Your nation needs you, and you’re answering the call.

Sweet! I always knew raising hell might come in handy some day.

  • Dumd argument. Oppostion to the “war on terror” via Iraq is GREATER and more vocal in England.

  • This guy has some serious thinking problems,
like our prez. I followed CB’s link, and there’s another
piece to it, after the direct quote:

” Gen. McInerney says the July 7 London bombing was an attempt by Muslim militants to bring down Prime Minister Tony Blair and see him replaced by a left-wing Laborite who would pull troops out of Iraq.”

So I guess the British shrillers aren’t doing for their
country what we shrillers are doing for ours.

    Did I get that right?

To shrill or not to shrill. What an awesome responsibility
this man has dropped into our laps.

Maybe we better follow the logic through just one more
time just to make sure our shrills are resonating
    properly.

  • By the way, would somebody please advise
Homeland Security that if there’s any reduction
in shrilling, they need to go to red alert,
    pronto!

  • I think the shrillers in the UK should held accountable for not shrilling enough. Perhaps a visit to Gitmo would help.

  • I’m so tired of the Right Wing Nuttery ranting about liberals coddling and supporting terrorism, oppression, etc. It would be nice if some journalists would actually hold these conservatives, Republicans and all around wackos accountable like asking them to specifically name instances when and where liberals have supported tyrants and terrorists instead of spewing such crap. The funny thing is some Bush loyalists outed a covert CIA agent and the Bush administration supports oppressive and cruel tyrants in Asia and the Middle East so they could get some bases there.

  • Of course he’s disappointed that the shrill leftists are keeping suicide bombers from wreaking havoc here. That sort of thing puts career military men like him out of jobs. It’s all about the jobs, people. The shrill leftists are putting people out of work. Bastards! 😉

  • Umm, the general seems to have forgotten that the right’s claim that Al Qaeda used the Madrid bombings to get leftists elected.

  • What’s astonishing to me is that Gertz and Scarborough published that nonsense without understanding the implication of what the general said. I guess they just saw criticism of leftists and went with it.

  • The name “General McInerney” does have a nice ring to it. He’ll do fine as the Fox News’ expert.
