Snowing in the White House briefing room?

For those following the story, it looks like Fox News anchor [tag]Tony Snow[/tag] is poised to accept the White House’s offer to replace [tag]Scott McClellan[/tag] as [tag]Bush[/tag]’s [tag]press secretary[/tag].

The sources said they expect him to announce his decision within the next few days. A source familiar with the discussions said Monday that newly appointed Chief of Staff [tag]Josh Bolten[/tag] asked Snow to make a decision by early this week. […]

Sources familiar with Snow’s deliberations said he has been focusing on family, finances and his health. The sources said Snow, who has been battling colon cancer, got a good prognosis from his doctor last week and that Snow resolved his concerns about taking the job over the weekend.

The NYT added that it has learned Snow is “leaning toward accepting” the offer.

As one astute observer put it, “It would be a change in job title, but not description.”

How perfect…. we’ll have a shitstorm of snowjobs! What a surprise — not!!

  • Under the category of “Unseen Rescue Efforts for the Titanic”: Bush’s oil patch friends and “the have-mores” have a Swiss bank account (stuffed with Euros) with Tony Snow’s name on it.

  • I hope the release the “White House Shuffle” video soon. I can’t wait to see it…

My name is Snow and I’m here to say,
My boss did blow back in the day.

On Fox I lie, for Bush I’ll fib,
But at least you’ll know I’m not a lib.

…and they should all be in football uniforms. With Condi off to the side playing some sweet baritone saxaphone.

  • It occurred to me that one of the new strategies for the WH was to improve relations with the press. How is hiring a Faux reporter/commentator/whatever for press secretary going to facilitate that? I mean reporters/everyone knows Faux is this WH’s moutpiece and takes Faux reporting for what it is – and extension of the WH press office. How is WH credibility/relations going to be improved when that belief is proved and the relationship is more cemented? They would have even less reason to trust or give credence to what comes from Snow than what came from McClellan.

I guess I just don’t by this “better relations with the press” thing. I think the hiring of Snow proves that they are going to continue to lie/evade to the press and actually up the ante on that score.

  • Let it snow
    Let it snow
    Let it snow

Tony is no Scotty. It will be interesting to see how much crap Snow will take before exploding.

Clinton brought the blow job to the white house. Now Bush brings the snow job.

  • Makes you wonder what he’s thinking. He knows he’s going to be a total lapdog for the administration. He must have some greater aspirations he thinks this will help with, because otherwise he’s a nut.

  • Here come more blinding snowstorms and an avalanche of lies. We had a snowball’s chance in hell of hearing the truth anyway. (This can go on and on, huh? Thought I’d get it out my system).
Meanwhile, ET (#7), maybe Tony has friends throughout the media; he is one of them afterall. Maybe they will go easy on him. Remember, we’re talking about stenographers here, not journalists (Helen notwithstanding). And they better be nice if they someday want to work in Rupert’s ever expanding empire.

  • Anyone who knows anything about colon cancer would know not to go into a high-stress job (being a pampered anchor-lite would not qualify), but of course, you have to not be an egotistical moron, so you can figure this out. But then, Mr. Snowjob works for Fux….

  • Doesn’t matter whom they hire. White House “press” conferences are as much a crock as Bush’s “town meetings”. The latter screen out the Democratic rabble who might suggest this is a democracy, and the former invite in ass-sucking wimps who care more about their own image and invitations than “the news” (except for Helen Thomas whom they invite for laughs and Jeff Gannon/Guckert who they invited in for … the mind boggles). The Bush Crime Family is a bunch of liars; so also will be their mouthpiece. What’s new?
