As of now, Dems have a net gain of 15 House seats, including some key races many of us have been watching for months (in addition to other House contests mentioned earlier):

Florida 16 — Mahoney (D) beats Negron (R)

Florida 22 — Klein (D) beats Shaw (R)

New York 20 — Gillibrand (D) beats Sweeney (R)

North Carolina 11 — Shuler (D) beats Taylor (R)

Ohio 18 — Space (D) beats Padgett (R)

Pennsylvania 10 — Carney (D) beats Sherwood (R)

Given these and other results from tonight — not a single House Dem incumbent has lost so far — MSNBC and CNN both show Dems taking back the House tonight.

Matt Taibbi recently did a piece on the House, explaing that Republicans have managed the chamber “with some of the most mind-blowingly juvenile behavior seen in any parliament west of the Russian Duma after happy hour.” Jonathan Turley suggested the GOP House majority has been so reckless and negligent, “it makes you wonder if democracy is a failed experiment.”

It’s been a long 12 years, but it’s time for some sanity in the House again. Republicans surely won’t appreciate the adult supervision, but I’m confident the nation will.

Add to that Pombo is down as is Bilbray here in California.

Slow-roasted Republican, soaked in a flavorful marinade for 2-3 days, sounds like great Thanksgiving dinner to me. With “a nice Chardonnay.”

  • This victory is sweeter because by reading you regularly CB, I’ve learned just what assholes these Reps like Weldon and Santorum etc are. it’s that much more fun to cross them off the list. To know them is to hate them. The Newt tidal wave is ebbing.

  • Suddenly now Rethugs are talking about working together. Ugh…I say, kill them and crush them to bits after that. Start the investigations on day one. There will be no justice until Rethugs are behind bars for trying to thwart the electoral process and Dear Leader and Darth Cheney are there with them, convicted of at least their top 50 crimes.

  • Yea verily. The Republicons did grasp their ankles for ShrubCo. And they did assume the position for anyone who waved a wad of cash in their direction. And even did the members of the Republicon party turn the other cheek when one of their own members was asking teens about their members. And they did cheat like whores during a virginity contest.

    But it was for naught. And lo, on the morn of November 8th they cried unto the Demon Rove: Where is my October Surprise, you fat bastard!

    Yet The Rove did not hear. For he was sitting on the beach in a country that has no extradition treaty to the US cracking jokes with his pal Rush and the Republicons were left at the Mercy of the Pelosi. And there was great rejoicing amongst the people, but the Republicons said “Forsooth, ’tis the fault of the liberal media that we are so fucked.” For the Republicons are fuckwits who missed the clue bus. And there can be no redemption for one such as that.

    And Republicons did quiver and say “Hey, we’re still friends. We can work together, right?” and the Democrats did give them a swift kick to the ‘nads and say “Not so fast slime bucket. Most of thee shall be in jail and Steve is coming for the rest of thy greedy arses.”

    And the Republicons did crap their pants and call upon their master DieVote. But there was no answer. Because the Demon Rove forgot to pay the bill.
