Suskind gets another great inside look at the Bush White House

It won’t be out for a couple of days, but this week’s New York Times Sunday Magazine is going to have a big feature on Bush from Ron Suskind, whom you know as the author of “The Price of Loyalty,” the best-seller based on materials provided by former Treasury Secretary Paul O’Neill.

The story will have a few gems, including:

* Suskind talked to attendees from a confidential luncheon Bush had with RNC Regents. Reportedly, Bush at one point said, “I’m going to be real positive while I keep my foot on John Kerry’s throat.” It’s that kind of positive, classy leadership that has inspired the world, isn’t it?

* In an Oval Office conversation, Bush reportedly described Sweden: “They’re the neutral one. They don’t have an army.” Rep. Tom Lantos (D-Calif.) apparently turned to Bush and said, “Mr. President, you may have thought that I said Switzerland.” Hardly the kind of anecdote that inspires confidence in Bush’s competence.

Should be a good article. Keep an eye out for it.
