The networks are calling Maine, Mass., Conn., NJ, Md., DC, Del., and Ill. for Kerry. Bush, meanwhile, has won in Ala., Tenn., W. Va., and, Okla.
Several battlegrounds are too early in the process, but it’s interesting that a couple of southern states — North Carolina and South Carolina — haven’t been called yet. These were supposed to be easy ones for Bush. Moreover, New Jersey was supposed to be vaguely competitive, but that doesn’t appear to be the case since the networks called it moments after 8.
As of now, it looks like Kerry 77, Bush 66 in terms of EVs, but we’ve hardly gotten started.
