I just swung by CNN.com and found this blaring headline in a bold red box:
U.S. terror alert to be dropped to yellow, or elevated, today, sources tell CNN. Details soon.
Could this be any less helpful? The terror alert may drop to where it was before, or it could be bumped up to the highest level since 9/11. They’ll get back to us.
Update: Oh, now I get it. Several of you (thanks Kev, Abe) have written to explain that yellow alert is, in fact, “elevated,” just as orange alert is “high” and red alert is “severe.”
Still, it’s a lousy headline.
