A month ago, the Republican National Committee sent out a mailing insisting that “liberals” are planning to “ban” the Bible. I said at the time it was “the most disturbing piece of direct mail I’ve ever seen.” I was wrong — the RNC has stooped even lower.
A writer called The Blue Lemur, whom I don’t know, has posted images of what appears to be the latest RNC mailing. You’ll have to take a look for yourself to believe it.
I can’t vouch for this website, but the scanned image appears to show the exact same RNC return address label that the “ban the Bible” ad had, and the party eventually took full credit for that one.
If the RNC really did send this out, and I have every reason to believe that it did, the party has reached a level of desperation that I never thought possible. By exploiting 9/11 in such a crass and disturbing way, I suspect the RNC will actually generate a backlash that will help Kerry.
In the meantime, though I should obviously know better, I’m nevertheless stunned by the RNC’s complete abandonment of any shred of decency. These people are low and getting lower.
