Tuesday’s Mini-Report

Guest Post by dnA

I’ll try to fill CB’s shoes again tonight with today’s roundup of quick links:

  • Democrats generally get grilled on how they will pay for certain domestic programs. Thinkprogress is wondering how John McCain plans to pay for all those tax cuts, since no one seems to be asking him.
  • There’s a time warp happening over at the National Review, where Lisa Schiffren seems to think that interracial marriage in the 60s was the result of Communist leanings. John Cole responds. Me too.
  • Obama seems to have lost his substantial lead in the Daily Gallup tracking poll since yesterday.
  • Talking Points Memo won a Polk Award for their coverage of the U.S. Attorney scandal. Like Wolverine, they’re the best at what they do.

Anything to add? Open thread, Trackbacks, Puppies for everyone…

Why do I feel that the “uppity nigger” thinking is returning to the country. I read some boneheads posts today and it made me want to scream. I thought we were getting past this (WAY past this!) but apparently not.

What is with all the racist, homophobic, misogynistic assholes at the NR (and in other areas of our MSM)? And why are they not called to the carpet on it.

This is just sick. Sometimes it’s embarrassing to be an American. And this is one of those times (alas, too many of those times these days).

    This is a slam-dunk of a question.

He’ll just have the Federal Reserve print more money.

  • Here in Ohio—where people still have good memories of the “red meat mantra” exploited in 2000 and 2004—the Monty Python attack-rabbit mentality of the Clinton campaign will have the effect of trending Hillary’s numbers in a downward direction. Ohioans do not want another four years of spiteful, anything-to-win propagandizing; they want a wholesale change in administrative direction, they want an administration that’s long on substance and short on fluff, and they want the quarter-million Ohio jobs that have been outsourced since the opening bell of the Bu$h administration brought back to Ohio.

Obama may be the unknown quantum political theory, but Clinton’s is known—in a negative light….

  • Hillary is speaking right now even as a type.
    She is dead.
    The crowd is dead.
    Her campaign is dead.
    Day 1 is dead.
She’s got less life in her than McCain.
And he is bat-shit crazy dead.

Get out of the way old people.
    Get out of the way.

  • McCain isn’t being asked about how he’ll pay for his tax cuts because tax cuts pay for themselves. I know, it’s hard to remember. Thankfully, we’ll have lots of right-wing delusionals reminding us as this campaign rolls on.

  • Don’t losing democrats always congratulate winners in primary elections?
I’ve never seen that behavior in an dem. election before.
And she doesn’t even thank her supporters in Wisconsin!
    What a classless act…
    Not an ounce of grace…
She deserves to be 60,000 votes behind…
    And sinking.

  • Clinton is obviously getting desperate when all she can do is level a charge of ‘plagiarism’ against Obama. Where have we seen those tactics before? Deliberately creating an essentially meaningless distraction to throw the other side off their game is a great conservative/right-wing trick. Clinton is in a downward spiral, and these antics aren’t going to help her.

So we’re supposed to believe Obama is a product of godless communist ideology because his Jewish mother married a black man in the 1960s. Or is he a communist too because they bred it into his genes? The ghost of Joe McCathy, if not his genes, is obviously infused into those racists at the NRO.

Unfortunately, we are seeing only the beginning of the racism, sexism, etc., that will emerge from the caves, and from under the rocks of the hinterlands, and given voice by the likes of Schiffren. Her real message: Be afraid, be very afraid, the ‘niggers’ are coming. When I read this poison I’m once again embarrassed to be an American. That crowd doesn’t ever change no matter how much times passes or how much or how often they are proven wrong. There’s definitely a hereditary problem here, but it isn’t Obama’s.
