When it comes to security or mistresses…

When it comes to security or mistresses, Giuliani believes there’s no price that’s too high (for you).

Ouch.

On a related note, former Maryland Gov. Bob Ehrlich (R) notes his concern about how the Shag Fund scandal might affect Rudy Giuliani’s presidential ambitions.

Ehrlich questioned the timing of the story, which hit just weeks before the first contests in Iowa and New Hampshire. But if it’s true Giuliani’s then-mistress was ferried around by the NYPD on the taxpayers’ tab, “It’s clearly inappropriate, clearly wrong, and would certainly hurt the campaign,” Erlich said on Maryland radio station WBAL-AM.

“If the substance of the story is true, he’s got a lot of explaining to do,” Ehrlich said of Giuliani. “It would certainly haunt him.”

Ehrlich, of course, is a regional chairman of Giuliani’s presidential campaign.

Shorter Ehrlich: “Oh Rudy, you’ve got some ‘splainin’ to do.”

  • Over at Daily Kos, they are calling the Shag Fund scandal “Sex On the City.”

Nothing is more damaging to a pol’s chances than ridicule like this. Whoever made that video deserves an award.

  • Such a nice spin of the situation. Thanks for sharing it.

I guess if you’re going to have sex with a toad, it’s best if the toad has access to city money to spend on you.

  • Isn’t it amazing that the GOP has had to result to not being able to deny it happened. They still use the big “IF” it is true, pretending that he’s still innocent until all proof is in, preferably after he’s been elected as President.

A GOP tactic: keep moving the goal posts, until it’s so old, that now you can start claiming that it’s ‘old’ news.

It’s been several years since it happened, so it is natural for the GOP to question why the story is surfacing now, and they’re looking for a political motive, of course from the democratic side of the isle.

When are they going to realize that it took so long to surface because they did the first GOP tactic: refuse to cooperate, and stonewall all inquiries.

Anybody remember if that has ever occurred in the Bush administration? 🙂

  • Ha! Nothing pleases me more than Ehrlich hitching his wagon to a falling star…as a Marylander who could not abide Ehrlich’s tenure as governor, I sincerely hope that backing the wrong candidate will help keep him out of Maryland – and national – politics forever.
