Your 8:27pm update

Two of those “harbinger” races that everyone’s been watching are Indiana’s 8th and 2nd, featuring two vulnerable GOP incumbents in a red state.

In the 8th, incumbent Rep. John Hostettler (R) is up against challenger Brad Ellsworth (D); in the 2nd, Rep. Chris Chocola (R) is facing challenger Joe Donnelly (D). If Dems are going to take back the House, these are two races that should be Dem pick-ups.

As of right now, Ellsworth appears to be cruising to victory and Donnelly is up by 20 points with about a quarter of pricincts reporting. That’s clearly reassuring.

In other news:

* Sens. Nelson (D-Fla.), Kennedy (D-Mass.), Lott (R-Miss.), and Snowe (R-Maine) have all been declared winners, surpisng absolutely no one.

* TP noticed an interesting tidbit from US News & World Report: “Fifty-seven percent of late deciders, the Fox exit polls show, are breaking for the Democrats, and 39 percent for Republicans. This is a very important harbinger.”

msnbc is calling for casey. and it seems the frothy mixture of lube and fecal matter that is sometime the byproduct of anal sex has been thoroughly wiped away.

  • and now menendez in nj is being called the winner over an acorn that will never grow into the oak it fell from. and this despite menendez voting for torture.

  • Several sources are openly calling the Ohio gubernatorial for Strickland. The odd thing is that the ReThugs are trying to scream “foul” over the release of projections while polling places are still open. The districts still open are all “blue”—and they’re open until 10PM because the damned machines kept screwing up!

Looks like the GOP just got itself “J-Ken’d” here in Ohio. Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of guys….
